Subrule · Chapter 8

cr:8.5.3a

If an object loses life from being dealt damage, the ability that generated the damage effect and the ability’s source of the damage are considered to have dealt that damage. If the effect specifies the source of the damage, that source is considered to have dealt that damage instead. If the source is a non-living card, the player that controls the source and the player’s hero are also considered to have dealt that damage.
