As an object with the subtype affliction enters the arena as a permanent, its controller declares an opponent and the object enters the arena under that player’s control. If the affliction has no controller before it enters the arena, its owner declares the opponent. If the object cannot enter the arena under that player’s control, it is cleared and is not considered to have entered the arena.
