If two or more players may declare defending cards for an attack-target, they do so in clockwise order starting with the player that controls the attack-target.[1.1.6]

Example: If a player’s hero is attacked, that player declares any defending cards first, then in clockwise order, players may declare additional defending cards, such as cards with Protect.
